My art is inspired by the natural world and considers the underlying impacts of human intervention, climate change, and the lessons learned from nature. “Epiphytes 11” is part of a series of wet felted wool 3-D sculptures inspired by plants that host other living plants on their surfaces. The host provides space but not nourishment; the epiphytes are not parasitic and do no harm to their hosts. The examples of symbiotic relationships that nature showcases should be a blue print for humans to strive to achieve a balance that safeguards the earth, our host.
