My Strong Women series focuses on subjects of historical and cultural, artistic or literary significance to our lives as women. These are expressionistic portraits that reach for an immediacy that resonates with the viewer and not be considered an attempt at a naturalistic rendition. As a writer/artist/photographer, I have also spent time working with the power of black and white (especially in photography) to convey the intended feeling. Translating this into the medium of painting is challenging ut a great satisfaction.
