The inspiration for my paintings is the timeless field sport of foxhunting. My process begins with shooting live hunts to capture visual resources–although as a life-time equestrian, I also call on my “bone-deep” knowledge of the subject to craft each piece. (Most of the horses and riders in my work hark from real-life hunts.) In the each painting, I aim to capture fall’s saturated color with an emphasis on how light strikes my subjects and illuminates the land itself. …a blend of light, landscape, and breathtaking sport!
