I’m a self-taught artist and have been around art my whole life. My mother painted, and my painter-uncle mentored with Yasuo Kunyoshi. Being from NY, I’ve often haunted the Met, MoMA, and the Whitney for years. I have a BA in theatre & English. An ESL teaching certificate, and Culinary Arts certificate. I’ve worked in theatre, film and television. For more than a dozen years I’ve worked with curators as a writer of museum exhibition audio tours.
I started painting about ten years ago, often inspired by classic monuments in Italy where I spend time yearly. I want to create poetic interpretations freeing solid life from static poses. Recently, I’ve been diving in portraiture, in my naive style…colorful representations, loosening up the obvious.
