Travelling into New York City, camera in hand, I leaned as far as possible out the passenger window to capture the incredible, repeating patterns in the Williamsburg Bridge as it skyrocketed over me like a giant erector set while the arched lampposts created a graceful dance-like rhythm along the edge. I used extreme angles, heightened contrast and an intuitive, geometric sense of composition to prompt the viewer to take a closer look and come away with a deeper appreciation of the “ordinary.” In the words of Henry David Thoreau, “The question is not what you look at, but what you see.”
