Girl by the Seashore was painted from imagination, another way I work. Sometimes, I paint from imagination directly, with maybe only a thought to where the work will go, but more often, and here, the composition is derived from a pencil drawing, originally from imagination I which made quite a few years ago and still love. I draw a lot. Here, I worked to get the light the way I wanted it.
