This sculpture was inspired by Michelangelo’s Slaves, whose unfinished forms powerfully express struggle, emergence, and release. I have always been moved by the way these figures seem to press outward from the stone, as if they are becoming visible before our eyes. That tension between confinement and freedom shaped my approach to this piece.
In this work, I wanted to suggest a form in transition — emerging, resisting, and transforming. It speaks to endurance, vulnerability, and the quiet strength found in becoming.
