Since I work from real life and am fascinated by the details one can see in the natural world, silverpoint’s quiet voice lends itself to the intimate. Since erasure is virtually impossible in this medium, the subject tends to dictate what to draw and how… which means that there is a quiet dialogue between – say, a feather or a flower – and part of my brain as I develop the drawing. It becomes entirely intuitive, for better or for worse! But nonetheless these drawings allow a rewarding glimpse at the intricacies of nature.
