Period Room
10 x 8″
acrylic on illustration board

Period Room is of one of the many period rooms at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This particular one is a dioramic recreation of an eighteenth-century Bordeaux hotel room. I’ve always admired the artistry and stagecraft of these dioramas. I was intrigued by the narrative possibilities of this scene, as well.

One cannot paint in the museum, but I was able to do a detailed value drawing on site. Enabling me to capture the nuance and ambience of the setup more thoroughly than any photo could, which proved invaluable for my painting.

Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
