I have been working on a series of whale bones ever since I visited an abandoned whaling station in Antarctica in 1998. Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a week as an artist resident and work with the Nantucket Whaling Museum. This was one of the new pieces I completed during this time.
Whale bones are large and overwhelming and show the majesty of the animal that once lived in them. I hope to honor those whales that are gone with this series.
