Relationship with Love (Family) Series…this piece was inspired by a song lyric: You will outgrow your shoes, but you will always be my baby. I think most parents think this way. I had the shoes, so as soon as I heard the lyric, I had my intention for this work. I have a daughter so this work was very personal for me and universal, thinking about all families. I used objects from different ages to create the narrative….diaper pin to engagement ring, skate key to car keys. The fan was given to me by a former student, and my daughter had a very similar one. So many stories, so many memories that we share.
