The Flotsam series follows my long interest in shallow water system imagery across sculpture, painting, and drawing projects. In this work I allow each material to inform the evolution of image making. Started during a road trip in 2023 with a small kit, I began these drawings with layers of brushed-on ink that got worked over with marker which rendered a silvery, burnished surface. These quickly became a process that encouraged intuitive shape-making, and where chaos on the page came to order through a network of connections.
