In my painting, Birches and Lace, I explore memories and perceptions of the natural world through the colorful, gestural use of shapes and lines to mimic organic forms found in nature. The negative spaces between the trees take on just as much importance as the positive subject matter. While not true to life, the palette creates a conversation between cool and warm tones.
