Living in Kentucky, where horses are the great charm of the countryside, I am inspired by their friendliness, curiosity, grace. and beauty. Quite often, while stopped in traffic along the road, the horses come to stand by the fence and commune with the drivers. One such horse, grabbed my fancy and, the next thing I knew, he began to appear in the slab of black Tennessee marble I was working. A few years later, I converted the stone sculpture into a bronze edition of 9. A much larger version of the horse resides in a private collection in Kentucky. Although not a typical, traditional horse sculptor, I love to capture the abstract essence of the horse.
