Love Joy Art! Dave Lovejoy’s studio says it all. He loves the ‘patina of use’ of LA in the 30s & 40s. His office in a 1905 abandoned bank building has gold lettering that could be leftover by a Sam Spade of art. Eclectic spheres & globes, 18 paintbrushes arrayed, vintage molding meandering, an assemblage of 88 magnifying glasses is a living chandelier. The studio flows into the Last Bookstore (in the same antique building), a magical labyrinth of melting bookcases & flying books in Downtown LA for visiting booklovers. Imagination & inspiration. A ‘thingmaker’ meets me, a photographmaker. Voila!
