Playfulness is a sneaky way to allow the audience the freedom to enjoy new ideas. I use humor and whimsy to create unexpected associations that people can recognize. Bringing their own unique experiences and personal connections to my art, they are delighted when they feel a particular artwork is speaking directly to them. The story is something they can personally relate to, just like I do. I particularly enjoy the look in the eyes of an observer when they realize they are seeing a familiar tale, something from their own life, sometimes even a memory. There is excited screaming and laughing and so much thanks. I get a lot of hugs!
