Mexican-American badass Yovita Idar knew when to say, “NO!”. This piece is intentionally created with several types of media in layers. Her biography is placed on the sides of the canvas, allowing the viewer to see events in her life that took place on both sides of the U.S. border with Mexico. A faint border line meanders on top with stars indicating cities for geolocation.
This piece celebrates the incredible spirit of this distinctive woman who knew her rights and spent her life advocating for others. “No! Your Rights!” is designed with the hope that it will be placed where a spirited child will look into the eyes of this fiery soul and be reminded with confidence that they are on the right track.
