In Bone Oracle, I created a synesthetic translation of music into form, allowing sound to guide each mark through my experience of synesthesia. I worked intuitively, building layered, bone-like shapes that interlock into a totemic figure—part mask, part spirit, part artifact. As I painted, I responded to rhythm and tone, using deep reds, earthen browns, and saturated blues to embody the emotional and physical vibrations I was hearing.
I approached the canvas as an excavation, shaping forms that feel unearthed rather than designed, drawing from a primal visual language tied to ancient humanity and early cultural expression. Each mark became a kind of ritual gesture, encoding movement, memory, and sensation. Through this process, I explored the instinct to create symbols that give form to the unseen and connect us across time.
