It’s the color that hits me first. It’s the brilliance of the litho inks as they sit on the glass, straight out of the can. It’s all about the color for me. How does the color strike my eye? Does it “go” with the other colors?
I’m not trained; I’m intuitive. Does it feel right? Those are the things that keep me going, drive me to finish a monoprint. Does it work for me? I go by instinct. Does that piece on paper speak to me? Do I love this thing that I have created?
Those are the things that inspire me. It’s internal, not external. The physical world is not my source; internal emotions fuel my art.
