I have always enjoyed studying the many subtleties to be found in nature. Color variations, details in objects, as well as the juxtaposition of objects all interest me greatly. In addition, I find symbolism in art and the various moods created by lighting to be very intriguing. But most of all, it is the challenge of combining these and other elements in the painting process that attracts me to create.
This image “Spread Your Wings” not only brings to light women striving for independence but at the same time brings awareness to the Burrowing owl that is currently on the endangered species list. Bringing awareness to endangered and threatened species is very important to me. I’m continually striving to bring elements together that invoke a sense of thoughtfulness towards nature and how we affect it.
