The works in this series (Dressing Table Vignettes) are studies, created for conceptual development of larger works. They regard vanities as private, personal spaces where one may meditate upon memories and encounter a depth of emotions reflecting in the mirror about life, being female. Looking glasses are used in metaphor, for the contemplation of constructing oneself for the world – for pleasure, necessity, or perhaps protection.

In my process, I deconstruct textiles and garments from my wardrobe to create surface assemblages as low-relief grounds for paintings. What emerges is a visual dialogue, evoking human presence, aimed at illuminating renewal and transformation allegorically contributing to the dialogue and conceptual expression.
