Combining vintage photos of older women from the 1960’s, old maps, and other paper ephemera under a matrix of relief printed houses communicate an imagined history of the Cold War, and who the unsung prime movers might have been.“Women of a certain age” have the misfortune of becoming invisible in society, but what if they used that to their advantage? A good spy is unremarkable looking, able to move freely and unnoticed, and in this case, thwarting Communism after WWII.
There are cut away areas, windows to another layer, a suggestion that there is more to be revealed, and, that a house may seem simple on the surface, but hide secrets inside. The simple house shape reinforces the notion that these ladies are just typical housewives, nothing to worry about.
