The inspiration is the plethora of late summer-plantings in the St-Michel-de-Cuxa Cloister at The Cloisters Museum in northern Manhattan. My intent was to convey the contrast between the permanence of the 12th-century architectural elements and the fragile, transient essence of the blooms.
