‘Once Deeply Rooted, Now Barely Tethered’ was inspired by the impermanence and mystery of the natural world. It began as darkness in the middle of the canvas and grew organically from there. A quality of wildness, much like the energy of deep interior woods, infused the painting process. As the plant matter seems to rise in ascent, all things are in flux, even the laws of gravity
