Donkeys are common characters in stories, myths, and fairytales, yet they are rarely portrayed as the main characters. They are usually there to serve everyone else’s journey.
This small painting is my way of giving one donkey the entire canvas – a moment to simply be at the center of attention.
The donkey stands alone in an open field, not carrying a burden, not transporting a hero, not waiting for instructions. For once, there is nowhere to go and nothing to prove. It is simply present in its own world, surrounded by light, color, and space.
Perhaps many of us know what it feels like to spend our lives supporting others while our own stories remain untold. In this painting, the donkey becomes a quiet reminder that every life, no matter how humble, contains its own dignity, beauty, and importance.
