Rendezvous
I had a phone call from a Professor from New England college who asked me if I would be interested in an exhibition themed “Landscrape”, not misspelled. Of course I agreed and proceeded to paint some large pieces for the exhibit. Long story short, the exhibit didn’t get off the ground so to speak, but the work did. Consequently, this piece was included by Anita Rogers, Anita Rogers Gallery in the Art2Life 2023 exhibit. One thing leads to another.
In creating this piece I was able to paint freely with abandon. I utilized larger brushes, paint edgers to drag and remove paint, charcoal, graphite, you name it. I also used some house paint because I loved the way it moved on the canvas. The work had many layers, a paint layer followed by a layer of gloss medium, which give the piece a lovely depth and textural quality.
