In the last few years I have been drawn to creating contemporary landscapes. I work from my memory of a place, rather than create en plein air or from photos. Living on the Cape, the natural topography and flora have served as my muses. Recently, after a pilgrimage to Giverny, I gave myself permission to paint without apology. My interest is exploring what interests me at the time I greet my canvas, pushing color and the rules of composition.
