Peggy Epton
Welcome to Peggy Epton’s World of Fiber!
My medium is fabric and thread. Rich colors, fine details, and visual depth are hallmarks of my work. From a distance, viewers often mistake my creations as a painting, but with close examination they observe layers of fabric and intricate stitching. Every fiber piece is original in design and a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
Fabric is my canvas as I “paint” with thread. I guide the fabric under a moving needle, using my non-computerized sewing machine. This technique allows me to sew in any direction and “sketch” complex details onto the surface of the quilt. No patterns, programmed stitches, or pencil marks are applied, even cutting is done free hand! Most of my small “art quilts” are embellished with hand embroidery.
The inspiration for my work lies in the natural world surrounding me.
My goal is to keep my work original, honor nature, and decorate fabrics with needle and thread.
