To create is like breathing. A part of you that you can harness to ground, elevate, soothe, heal. Like breathing, to not do it is not an option. You take it with you no matter where you go. To work, to play, to sleep, everywhere. Shape and form it to suit you. Share it or keep it close.
I go to the sunrise.. Tides come in, then out, leaving behind a different trace. This is my act of painting. In the studio I begin the process. At the end of the day, the tide has receded and nothing is the same.
Acrylic paint allows me to layer traces of what is becoming. Charcoal, graphite, crayon, stencils lend themselves to the story. A mark, color, movement, sound, feeling, smell, a response, Wild crazy marks, frenetic energy slashes followed by a slow mark tracing a path. I am the tortoise and the hare dancing together all at once.
Painting brings me joy and like breathing sustains my life. I paint to bring me closer to who I am and who I am meant to be. I paint to heal. I want to share that.
