Pamela McLaurin
Wife, mother, caregiver, and corporate business manager: titles that described me – up until now. Art was a therapeutic hobby squeezed into chance free moments here and there. For over 20 years, I taught myself through books, YouTube and by studying the works of “real” artists. In November 2021, I moved from Boston to Savannah, GA and, for the first time, began to describe myself as an artist – a “portrait sculptor”. This vibrant community is a wonderful, almost magical, place to be an artist. The Telfair Museum Friends of African American Arts invited me onto its Board of Trustees. It is an honor and quite heartwarming to have become so strongly welcomed and sought after in this great world of art.
My goal is to produce work that speaks, that inspires, and that powerfully moves the viewer.
