The focus for my art is to create works that evoke light, depth, and energy using striking juxtapositions of color. I seek to achieve luminosity in my work, using the effects of color and contrast to create these illusions of light and buoyancy. My goal is to affect strong emotional responses to color and light. These elements come into play while in the process of painting. My work is intuitive and visceral. My inspiration comes in many ways, often from nature. The colors of the spectrum are seen in nature, from skies, shadows, flora, fauna, and colors of the seasons. My shapes and forms find inspiration in clouds, water, plant life, and wildlife. Light informs color and I try to grasp those nuances in my work.
