Mary Elizabeth Rusz, FAIA
Mary Elizabeth Rusz’s paintings explore the relationship between nature and the built environment. Paintings and Sketches have a favourite and traditional medium of Architects, especially prior to the advent of photography, as a means of recording the topology of places. Mary continues this tradition and seeks to convey an impression of the “genius loci” – that is, the essential quality or special nature of each selected place – through her works.
Ms. Rusz is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, and Founding Principal of STUDIO MER. As a Visual Artist, she is a Member of The Arts & Letters Club and The Heliconian Club of Toronto, and a Non-Resident Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club of New York (SCNY) and the National Association of Women Artists, both in Manhattan, New York. Her works have been shown in Toronto, New York City, and Rome, Italy. Her first Solo Exhibition of 35 works was shown at SCNY’s Thomas Moran Gallery in October 2022.
