The medium of collage allows me to create an alternate reality through my lens. A perceived reality that has both emotion and substance; concentrated on the desire for the viewer to see blocks of color and abstracted shapes. Memories and materials, past and present, influence design decision making. I’m fascinated with cut paper, rice paper and other collage materials. The colors are opaque or translucent and presented in overlapped layers and repeated patterns. A variety of textures are glued, painted or printed in acrylic. The textural element of my work requires close up and personal viewing. My works are produced on canvas or cradle board and finished with layers of cold wax.
