My art explores those creatures whose interactions with that world are basic and uncomplicated while reflecting my relationship with the materials I am working with, my fascination with old paper stems from its aged beauty, its contents, and its images along with the creases, discolorations, stray marks, and stains that give them a richness that can’t be achieved with new paper. I create stencil-like silhouettes on the collaged background to create an image that works with the paper both as pattern and text for a work that evokes a sense of whimsy and nostalgia.
