My work is about the power of place. I am interested in the ways in which the important places in my life move and affect me. My work explores memories of places revisited time and again. Each experience of a place is richly enhanced by remembered past experience, and all of this can be combined into into new forms that live together in a painting. One such place is the Low Country of South Carolina. My most recent work is inspired by memories of walking the beaches and gazing at the beautiful tidal marshes in that region. My intention is not to depict these landscapes realistically, but to create images that capture the essence of my experiences of them over time.
