I am a direct stone sculptor based in Salt Lake City. Throughout my life I have been telling stories: in writing, films, and now, sculpture. I sculpt stone because it takes time and focus to reveal the image within. Stone gives me an opportunity to explore and distill ideas and stories, whether they relate to cultural upheaval, the sciences, ancestral whispers or my imagination. As Robin Wall Kimmerer noted: “The story that we have to illuminate is that we don’t have to be complicit with destruction … If we can reclaim our attention and pay attention to things that really matter, there a revolution starts.” Carving stone is the work that provides that illuminated revolution for me.
