As an artist, I am most at ease balancing abstract and representational design. I consider myself a contemporary creator whether I am behind the easel, the camera lens, or the sculptor’s stand. Often my work, although abstract, can be representational of current experiences or circumstances studied over time. My paintings can be visceral, intuitive, and highly textured visually and figuratively. Painting is very much a physical activity for me. Primarily working in acrylics, I often introduce oil and cold wax or epoxy resin as finishing layers. The work can range from intense, rich hues to subdued, veiled layers. Even with pastels, I push the medium beyond typical applications.
