I am inspired by the life around me—plants and flowers, the spaces we inhabit, and the possessions we cherish. The meaning of places and the objects they hold emerges as I capture the details in my paintings. I work primarily onsite and en plein air, drawn to the challenge of conveying the essence of a place as light shifts, weather changes, leaves unfold, and people rearrange the objects of their daily lives. The constant motion fuels my process and sharpens my focus on capturing a single moment in time. My medium of choice is acrylic paint marker on wood panel. I build layer upon layer, sometimes thinning the paint with medium or adding ink washes or acrylic paint from tubes, until I achieve the illusion I am trying looking for. I sometimes have my paintings reproduced into prints and larger-than-life murals.
