Eileen Shaloum
Eileen Shaloum is a painter and mixed media artist who employs whimsy and humor in her subject matter. She goes to an imaginative place where colors are bold and compositions are playful. Her abstracts have been influenced by the writing of Italo Calvino. In his book, “Invisible Cities”, his writings serve as an inspiration for her fanciful landscapes she likes to call “Dreamscapes”. In her latest series, Artists Reimagined, she takes iconic portraits from historically admired artists and reworks them in her signature style. In these homages, she pays the ultimate compliment by changing and mashing up recognizable images to create an original love letter to the artist she so respects. Her figurative work, sometimes realistic, mostly abstract, always has a message of social or political injustice.
