Dana Epstein
I am a painter who primarily works in oil paint. Creating representational realistic landscapes, I use photographs that I have taken during my extensive worldwide travels as inspiration and reference. My experience and memories are just the beginning of my compositions that eflect the scenes I enjoy recreating on canvas. I’m intrigued by the light and shadows that play on the natural elements of nature.
My abstracts, using latex paint with pastels, are also influenced by landscapes I’ve seen. The colors and shapes create a rhythym of tension and excitement. The pastels are a joy to use for my abstracts.
I also enjoy using clay to sculpt a series of women that expresses the beauty and strenght that I admire. I worked in a local studio, availing myself of nude models for reference. I feel fortunate to have a large kiln in my art studio that affords me the opportunity to fire my own pieces.
Retirement has given me the time to create art and to relish in the joy of creating it.
