My gilded work takes the shape, light and form of my vision captured in my travels and creates an elegant metallic piece with a three-dimensional aspect reflecting light almost mystically.
The work is created using a couple of processes; The first is digital pigment ink on acid-free transparent vellum paper gilded on the back with 24kt Gold, Sterling Silver, or Platinum Leaf. The second is chemically transferring images printed on transparency film to glass and gilding the transferred image on the glass.
My gilded work has often been described as elegant, luscious, beautiful and resembling a daguerreotype print, an earlier form of photographic print created in the 1830’s that uses metal in the processing. Success for me comes when the experience and emotion that I am feeling and conveying is seen and felt by others.
