My Manhole Art also includes various sizes of water covers, gas covers, grates and drains, called: “Grate works of Art.” Though I have pursued this theme for over four decades, the contemporary term STEAM Fusion describes the various disciplines that are involved in the creation of my art. SCIENCE: water protection and conservation TECHNOLOGY: lighting, (Mars Future Grate,) sound recording (”Polluted Water” & “Pure Water” in 1992 City Views) ENGINEERING: designing the sculptures ARTS: capturing the artistic settings of urban utility covers. MATHEMATICS: executing the various size covers, grates, and their settings. My lightweight sculpture relief works are carved from sheets of poly- styrene. The finished sculptures look so realistic that I have been accused of stealing the manhole coverS I believe that one day Manhole Art will be included in the Art History of our century.
