Recently, I stood anonymously among a group on a docent tour of the main gallery of The Vero Beach Museum of Art. My painting, “New Beginnings”, was among the 100 chosen from 800 entries by the judge- Curator of The Norton Museum in Florida and former Assistant Curator at The Art Institute of Chicago for this six month exhibit, “Gold Coast Creates”.
The docent elicited reactions: “I love the colors!”, one woman remarked. Another said, ” I can keep looking at this painting over and over and find interesting areas. There’s a lot of movement.” I was overjoyed to hear a couple add that they would love to live with my painting in their home!
Equally important to the venue of my exhibitions in museums and galleries are the connections I am making to the viewers. I am sharing my personal experiences that I’ve translated through my unique and signature use of color, shape, movement and mark making in my art. It’s an exciting adventure and journey that I invite viewers to take with me!
