Mimi Herrera-Pease’s artwork titled Ignited was inspired by an experience she had back in August of 2020. Her Santa Cruz community was put on alert due to a terrible wildfire. “The skies were smoky brown with black, raining ash. As the sun set, the color of the sky was eerie yet beautiful.” Thankfully, her house was spared, while 86,500 acres burned and 911 homes were destroyed in the surrounding areas. “It was terrifying to think that I could lose everything. The piece captures the visual spectacle and the feelings associated with uncertainty and fear that I experienced.” https://www.mimiherrerapease.com/
