The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking Presents IM-Press-ive Women, a Signature NAWA Members Only exhibition at The Center for Contemporary Printmaking. IM-Press-ive Women celebrates women artists who use printmaking to leave their mark both literally and metaphorically. These beautiful IM-prints in the world carry strength, and creativity, weaving stories on paper, carrying traditions forward, and inspiring new ways of seeing the world around us.
Through etching, woodcut, screenprint, and additional printmaking methods, IM-Press-ive Women is an incredible experience honoring the labor of women’s hands, the beauty of craft, and the lasting impression made when women press their visions into art.
About NAWA
The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), founded in 1889, stands as the first professional women’s organization established in the United States.
Five pioneering women sought to address the lack of opportunities for women artists. Anita C. Ashley, Adele Francis Bedell, Elizabeth S. Cheever, Grace Fitz-Randolph, and Edith Mitchill Prellwitz spearheaded a vital alternative to the restrictions of the day, providing a supportive network and avenues for exhibition.
