Lush gardens, majestic landscapes, and serene seascapes have always been a source of inspiration in my image making. Combining traditional photography with contemporary techniques enable me to record and reinterpret the world around me. I work on an intuitive level without a predetermined image in mind and consider it successful when it is transformed beyond the reality of the camera into a personal connection with nature.

Flowers, gardening, nature and crafts have always stimulated my artistry. My natural inclination is to paint moments where light is the main attraction.
I was trained as a florist, and I am an avid gardener. I am drawn to the intimacy of flowers from blooming through the process of fading. I see the beauty in all the stages. I try to get in all the complexity of the flowers quickly because I am painting a moment in time and in an hour that moment will be different. Pastels and Oils are my preferred mediums and I love to emphasize the energy created by the shadows and the glow of the highlights using color to create vitality and vibration in my painting. MYywork tends to focus on organics, figure and nature.

For me painting is not simply a visual pursuit. It is a dialogue between the canvas and the soul, a meeting place where colors carry stories and textures hold unspoken truths.
Playfulness and experimentation became cornerstones of my practice, and I learned to surrender the outcome to the natural progression of each piece. This openness allowed me to tap into deeper layers of my personal narrative, using art to uncover and articulate the emotions stored in the body, not just the mind. Painting became an act of trust, a way of letting my inner stories flow into the open space of the canvas.
For me, the magic lies in this surrender. I view art as a bridge that can inspire reflection and conversation, a catalyst for the kind of emotional recognition that resonates beyond words.

Streaks of electric light, motion, and emotion transform my NYC photography into a poetic, abstract vision. My unique “photo-paintings” explore light as memory, movement, and connection – revealing the city in a completely new way. Born during a time of isolation, COVID pandemic, my work speaks of resilience, presence, and the beauty hidden in motion blooming with confidence.

I came upon this emerging yucca flower on a brilliant sunny day. Since our garden has a 30 year old yucca plant that blooms every year, I spotted this plant immediately. I often arrange my final image with a closeup view for emphasis. In this case, the colors and shapes of the bud against the blurred out trees and sky made for a compelling composition. The fact that the plant was situated in the entry drive of a rundown Catskills hotel that had seen better years made it even more special by comparison.

All Vows and All Obligations pattern natural elements, flowers and constellations. I had been fiddling around with flowers that bloomed in different months layered with war planes as a response to the war in Iraq. But this never felt right. Then it was Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of Atonement. Although I’m not a religious person, I like the idea that on this day the gates of heaven open, and you can commune with God. Because I was fasting and a little light headed, my thoughts were moving lightly, too. I had one of those aha moments. Instead of war planes maybe I should be layering the flower shapes with constellations. These are some of the paintings that emerged.

Little Leaves” is in full bloom because it was not an early leaf picture,; by the time I did this one, had realized and recognized my attraction to the leaf as a continuing motif in my work.“Allegra” is part of a larger series I call my Parrot Project. It was begun in the quarantine, part of a project to recuperate and restore unfinished or discarded work that had accumulated over the years. All the parrot pictures depicted magical and fantastical parrots in magical and fantastical leaf settings, and this is true of “Allegra” as well. I am drawn to leaves in my paintings or drawings or sculptures, which I do feel is encouraging a greener state of mind in the culture in general, but also I find a sense of life and movement in the leaves that is healing. and uplifting.

I am passionate about photography as an art form. In a world overfull with images, ideas, and messages streaming at us at warp speed, there is profound value in the thoughtfulness, the provocation, the silent aesthetic, the power of a single image made with the vision and ever evolving techniques of fine art photography.

My painting, Petals for Thee, was inspired by new beginnings and the wonder and joy of things to come.
Created with both brush and palette knife, I strived for a variety of textures to infuse depth, form and movement. The unique color palette was chosen to bring Petals for Thee to life.

I combine color, geometric shapes, and symmetry to create compositions that feel harmonious and invite the viewer to look closer. By stitching, cutting, and layering paper, I create windows of depth within each piece. My work explores themes of everyday thoughts, feelings, and experiences, aiming to foster a sense of personal connection that feels comforting, empathetic, and familiar. A recurring theme in my work is resilience. I have always been inspired by the strength and beauty of flowers, which bloom even in challenging conditions. Their resilience reminds me that, even when I feel helpless or frustrated by circumstances beyond my control, I can choose optimism and hope. I can choose to thrive and bloom.

My mission was to seek the first signs of spring, capturing these vibrant symbols of promise for a new beginning. Emerging from beneath the moist soil brought a revitalization of color & a sense of anticipation for the season ahead, a sentiment particularly poignant in light of the current political climate.
Equipped w/my Nikon and telephoto lens, I sought to be surrounded by daffodils, experiencing the sensation of being w/in them. The radiant yellow hue and fluttering, feather-like petals created a state of total immersion that united me with my subject.
The sight & fragrance of an unusual pink honeysuckle drew me in as irresistibly as a bee to its stamen, inspiring me to capture ‘Prom Night’. The glittering light, the intoxicating scent, opened my heart to enduring expectations.

In North Florida, life-giving springs recreate themselves endlessly with a continuous upwelling of fresh groundwater from visible, boiling-like fissures in the limerock that underlies the State. In a world of relentless change, this one constant reminds us quietly that renewal will bloom and a fresh start will present itself if we are only a little patient.

With a strong background in Natural History and Botany, I am very much drawn to abstracting from nature both on a gross and cellular level. I have a fascination with the structures, forms, and colours of stems, leaves, flowers, roots, and fruiting bodies of the plants I know so well.
The twisted and intertwined organic nature of gardens and natural places is where I gather much of my inspiration these days.
I am fascinated with abstracting from both the living and dead forms of plants, and I am just as happy painting neglected flower beds with all the weeds and rotting wood and fungi as I am a manicured garden.
Strong brushstrokes, colour, and texture are key elements to most of my works.

Upon finding multiple original vintage postcards of Main Street, Metuchen, NJ, I was struck by their romanticized version of reality. I created this collage using original ephemera, including play money, Scantron forms, and a library circulation card, each marked by its own history. The underlying structure is based on a 1907 square-packing math puzzle.

Portraits are my favorite subject. While I am painting a face, I am one with the person, and there is an exhilaration that comes from achieving this intimacy.
To me, comparing it to painting faces is painting flowers. One of my favorites and one that blooms very early is the Magnolia. I am attracted to it because of its colors, so delicate and nuanced, from white to cream to amazing tints of pink with darker details here and there. I enjoy examining how the light falls on each part of the flower to give it its unique shape and personality. Painting these flowers fills me with joy.

These two painting portray in full bloom in two separate ways. “Burgeoning” It represents the possibilities that can take place if a person is permitted to grow. For once growth is released it can flourish into thoughts, ideas and dreams that build upon themselves. “Buzz on in” Is a more literal take on full bloom. It represents the concept that once you bloom you invite others to become attracted to your courage, vibrancy and delicateness.

These two works emerged from sustained engagement with plant life native to the southern plains and central grassland regions of the United States. Each composition centers on a shrubby St. John’s wort and an associated leaf beetle. The surfaces are constructed through relief and layered accumulation using acrylic mixed media, oil paint, paint pens, resin, sand, glitter, and embedded glass aggregates. Drawing is carried through my NeuroLines process, in which line is built through repetition, density, and sustained attention, allowing form to develop gradually through the physical act of making. The resulting surfaces reflect prolonged observation and material persistence shaped by regional ecology and seasonal return.

This piece evokes a pond teeming with life, energizing memory and awakening dreams for the future. It’s a breath of fresh air. Fragments of colored glass, mirror, textiles, and cherished charms gathered from an artist soulmate radiate like currents across the surface, recalling a beloved stream. Woven into a circular form mounted on a clock, this work marks the passage of time while honoring remarkable lives left behind. Hard and soft, structured and organic elements exist in harmony, reflecting renewal. This mixed-media mosaic is a vibrant celebration of life.

Poppy in the Shade

I live in Colorado, a state the holds its beauty in every season. When Spring comes around, I look forward to my poppies exploding with color beneath my peach trees. This brilliant poppy caught my eye as the leaves casted shade from the morning sun. I started drawing it plein air and finished with watercolor in my studio.
My intent with this piece is to invite contemplation through its interplay of light and shadow, evoking emotions tied to nature and tranquility. Blurring the background enhanced the poppy's prominence, allowing it to stand out as a focal point.
This artwork can be seen as a metaphor for resilience and beauty in the midst of uncertainty, reflecting my emotional connection to nature.

I love viewing natural objects as potential paintings. Nature soothes me, and my art aims to create a peaceful feeling using vibrant colors and intricate patterns. I find a childlike wonder in watching water create beautiful shapes. Though I enjoy painting outside, my best work happens in the studio, allowing me to focus on evoking the emotions I want my art to convey. My goal is to create soothing and captivating paintings that offer viewers a serene escape into the beauty of nature.

My "Land of Harmony" series began as an exercise, playing with quasi non- referential imagery and enjoying the color of oil pastel. Originally I had thought of these works on paper as studies, perhaps to become larger paintings, but they became a completed series. The exuberance of biomorphic form emerging from a darker background creates a satisfying sense of burgeoning movement, of life.
