VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

Never doubt that a small group
Of thoughtful, committed citizens
Can change the world. Indeed,
The only thing that ever has.
– Margaret Mead

When five innovative women artists gathered on the evening of January 31, 1889, they may not have planned on changing the world, but what they did do was change the destiny of like-minded women for many decades to come. They managed to pave the way for those of us today to pick up a brush, a camera, a piece of clay with the confidence and passion to create something unique, meaningful and our own.

What continues to inspire us is just how special this membership of NAWA artists really is. Most recently, on May 10th, a number of us gathered for an annual in-person luncheon at the National Arts Club, refreshed and reinvigorated, meeting and greeting one another face to face. In this issue of NAWA NOW, you will see some of us that were fortunate enough to be there. You will also get an insightful close-up view of our Executive Editor Jill Biden, as well as exciting news about fellow members in our Shout Out sections, and more news about one of our National Board members, Joan Lewis. Tools of the Trade will as always provide you with more information about the artistic process, and On Your Radar about what’s worth noting in the art world at-large. A quarterly book review is included to keep you up to date on your best reading choices.

Spring is in full bloom! We wish you all the creative joy that can bring.

Please keep in touch. We can use your skills and talent to help us deliver to you the best quarterly we can!
