The National Association of Women Artists and Flushing Bank proudly announce Contrast, a juried exhibition celebrating the ways that powerful juxtapositions and otherwise oppositional angles or color come together in harmonious balance to create distinctive artwork.
Contrast is offered at two locations of Flushing Bank, providing viewers more opportunity to view and collect these bold, inspiring pieces by Signature Members of the National Association of Women Artists.
About NAWA
The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), founded in 1889, stands as the first professional women’s organization established in the United States.
Five pioneering women sought to address the lack of opportunities for women artists. Anita C. Ashley, Adele Francis Bedell, Elizabeth S. Cheever, Grace Fitz-Randolph, and Edith Mitchill Prellwitz spearheaded a vital alternative to the restrictions of the day, providing a supportive network and avenues for exhibition.
Current Signature Members are juried into NAWA for a lifetime membership, once accepted.
