In late January 2026 Upstate NY was expecting a huge snowstorm. The air was hushed and quiet. An injured deer was instinctively hunkering down in the snowdrifts that served as his only shelter, awaiting the onslaught. I was emotionally overwhelmed at the resilience shown by this vulnerable being, up against such brutal forces.
