The National Association of Women Artists proudly announces the fourth annual Women’s History Month exhibit “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” Honoring the incredible feminine experience, this exhibition provides a visual narrative of women who have shaped the incredible experience of divine femininity. The women we honor. Those who stand for what they believe in. The women we teach about for generations.
The work done by these women has secured their legacies. This celebration of women’s stories told through portraiture, is a powerful glimpse of their influence. It is through creativity that the brilliance, strength, and resilience of these women are not just depicted, but with the help of this work, they are honored and their contributions to our past will inspire the future.
About NAWA
The National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), founded in 1889, stands as the first professional women’s organization established in the United States.
Five pioneering women sought to address the lack of opportunities for women artists. Anita C. Ashley, Adele Francis Bedell, Elizabeth S. Cheever, Grace Fitz-Randolph, and Edith Mitchill Prellwitz spearheaded a vital alternative to the restrictions of the day, providing a supportive network and avenues for exhibition.
